KPK, Employees Social Security Institution
The Provincial Employees Social Security Ordinance was promulgated in 1965 to introduce a scheme of Social Security for providing benefits to certain employees and their dependants in the event of sickness, maternity, employment injury or death. The benefits admissible under the scheme are as under:
The extent of Medical Care for the secured persons and their dependants consists of:
Treatment of common diseases
Specialist, care in hospital for in-door and out-door patients
Provision of life saving drugs
Dental care in employment injury
The dependants of the deceased workers are also entitled to and Hospitalization and specialist treatment
T.B patient are entitled for short term and long term treatment
Prior to the dismemberment of one unit, the affairs of the Institution in this province were supervised by the Head Office of the West Pakistan Employees Social Security Institution, Lahore . The Local Office was under the charge of Deputy Director with Headquarters at Nowshera. The KPK, Employee's Social Security Institution came into being on the break-up of one unit in July 1970.
The Institution is a self-supporting Autonomous Body without any aid from the Provincial or the Federal Government. It meets all
expenditures i.e. Medical facilities and cash benefits provided to the secured workers and their dependants including aged parents,
from the contribution received on monthly basis from industrial and commercial establishments @ 7% of the total wages paid by
the employers to their employees. The rate of contribution was fixed in 1976.
